2010 National Championships

This year, most US Sailing ladder events do not require a MAYRA – level elimination round. The notable exception to this is the Sears Cup junior triple handed event. The Area C elimination for the Sears event will be hosted by the Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia on July 21, 2010. Due to limitations on the number of available borrowed boats, MAYRA is eligible to enter one team for this event. Therefore, eligible triple handed teams should contact MAYRA National Cups director Mark Penny mrkpnny@aim.com by midnight on July 11 and indicate interest in competing. Based on the number of entrants from other YRAs in Area C, it is possible that an additional slot may open.
The Area C Bemis (double handed) and Smythe (singlehanded ) will be hosted by the Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May on July 15-16, 2010. Entry is open to all eligible competitors. This event will likely be held in the ocean off Cape May, and is not intended for novice sailors.
The annual Midget Championship (which is not a US Sailing event) will be held early this year on July 27-28 at Devon YC in Amagansett, New York. Two MAYRA teams may entry the finals in both the singlehanded (Optimist) and double handed (C420) divisions. The MAYRA qualification event for the singlehanded midget will be the Junior Invitational regatta held at Yacht Club of Stone Harbor on July 15, 2010. The top two finishers overall in the Optimist fleet will qualify to advance to the finals at Devon YC.
For the double handed division eligible teams should contact Mark Penny by midnight on July 11 to indicate interest in competing. If more than two teams indicate interest, a qualifying process will be arranged.
