Guidelines for
Team Racing
Revised 11/06
- The
hosting yacht club should post a NOR online at www.mayra.org and/or distribute a paper copy to the MAYRA member yacht clubs.
- The
NOR should include:

The type of boat to be sailed.
·
The date of the regatta.
·
The time of the skippers meeting.
·
Contact information.
·
Fees (if any). Please keep fees at a minimum.
- Races
will be held team v. team in a round robin format.
- Race
courses should be Modified Triangles (“M”) approximately 20 minutes in
length.

Race
committee shall clearly designate teams to start by posting information on
the starting boat or by using some other appropriate method.
- Three
minute dinghy starts will be used.
- Coaching
is prohibited during races. Coaching is encouraged between races.
- Teams
will consist of three (3) boats – type to be designated in NOR.

Clubs
can send one team.
- Home team may field an additional “B”
team.
- Unlimited
substitution within teams is allowed between races.
- Sailors
may not turn 18 within the calendar year or be a paid instructor.
- In
order to have a seasonal winner, at least 3 team racing regattas must be
held.
- Teams
must compete in 60% of regattas – minimum of 3 to qualify.
- Suggest
race day to be Friday before the host clubs regatta. This could save on
travel time & helps sailors prepare for host regatta.
