Dear Mayra Regatta Delegates,

My name is Bill McLaughlin and I have been sailing in MAYRA sponsored regattas since I was a teenager in the 1960’s.  I am serving as the rear commodore of MAYRA this year, and hope to serve you by keeping track of the scores and coordinating activities around the racing schedule.  This letter, I hope, will assist you in planning for the upcoming sailing season and regattas.
This year we have ten regattas scheduled and in order to qualify for the seasonal awards, participants must sail in a minimum of six. A wrinkle in the schedule is that the Sunfish will not race in Ocean City on August 21, 2011 but will convene for the MAYRA championship at the Sunfish Mid-Atlantic Regional’s being held this year at Avalon YC on August 20th and 21st.  For MAYRA sunfish sailors, this regatta will be your championship regatta and also count toward the seasonal championship.  I have also been informed that Sea Isle City YC will race all classes on Sunday June 19, 2011.
Additional information on the regatta schedules, sailing instructions, guides for running skipper meetings and protest committee info, please visit the “Race Management” section on the web site at www.Mayra.org .
The Mayra regatta bags that include materials to assist you in running your clubs regatta will be delivered to you a week prior to your regatta. You are as in the past responsible for the care and then the transfer of the Mayra regatta bag to the next club after your event is complete. The transfer schedule is as follows this year.
Mayra Bag #1 Riverton to Cooper River to Avalon to Brigantine to Wildwood
Mayra Bag #2 Sea Isle City to Cape May to Stone Harbor to Pleasantville to Ocean City
I have attached Mayra’s preferred Excel formatted program to use in keeping score so we can post the complete results of your regatta on the Mayra website and use in calculating the Mayra seasonal trophies. Posting these results are particularly important to the competing sailors so if you will, please
e-mail me your results by Tuesday following your regatta. If you record your results on paper, please mail them to the above address.
As this year’s Mayra Rear Commodore and race record keeper, I thank you very much in advance for your thoroughness and timeliness and look forward to meeting you in the coming months. If you have any questions or if I can be of any assistance in helping you with your regatta, please call.

Sincerely,
Bill McLaughlin, RC MAYRA
